The Examiner would like to extend a hearty congratulations to Capt. Gregory Hudnet of the Baltimore County Fire Department. Veterans of Foreign Wars awarded the 58-year-old Hudnet, who has dedicated 35 years to the Baltimore County Fire Department, its Firefighter of the Year award Tuesday. He is the first person from Maryland to receive the national award, started 17 years ago. Steve Van Buskirk, VFW?s national director of programs, told The Examiner earlier this week that he is the kind of person who “blows the candidate committee away.”
Way to go, Capt. Hudnet. Your service sets an example for all the state?s citizens and inspires future generations to serve their communities as firemen and women.
