Former CNN host Chris Cuomo says he regrets “how everything ended” with CNN but that he has no regrets for helping his brother, disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Given everything we about what Chris and Andrew did (and what both were accused of doing), perhaps he should have a few more regrets than he is thinking about.
But the issue was never that Cuomo was trying to “help” his brother. The issue was always what he was trying to help his brother do.
While still serving as an anchor at CNN, Chris Cuomo tried to help his brother navigate a sexual harassment scandal. Cuomo attempted to discredit the women accusing one of the most powerful and influential politicians in the country of sexual harassment, using his sources as a “journalist” to do so.
Cuomo, who has also been accused of sexual misconduct, also thinks that he and his brother should not be presumed guilty and cast out of their jobs because they were accused.
That is a perfectly reasonable position to hold, but it is not one he embraced when less credible allegations were levied against then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Perhaps Cuomo should have some regrets about trying to destroy Kavanaugh’s life when he and his brother are far more likely to be guilty of what they were accused of than Kavanaugh was.
And, of course, Chris Cuomo used his platform to host buddy-buddy interviews with his brother Andrew while Andrew was manipulating COVID data to cover up the nursing home deaths that his policies caused.
If his sexual assault double standards and attempt to discredit his brother’s accusers aren’t worthy of regret, how should he feel about serving as a propagandist for the politician who got nursing home residents killed and then changed how the state counted data to absolve himself from blame?

Chris Cuomo should have more than a few regrets for his actions during the pandemic. Yet he thinks both he and his brother could do no wrong. His upcoming redemption tour is nothing more than an attempt to resurrect his career. If he had any shame, he would at least acknowledge his failures, instead of hiding behind the idea that he was just “helping” his brother.
