That congressional Democrats are willing to put $1.4 billion into a project House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called “immoral” should demonstrate to everyone just how stupid their position on immigration is.
Lawmakers late Monday night announced they had reached a potential deal that would fund the federal government and appropriate a satchel of coins for President Trump’s border barrier wall, a fraction of the $5.7 billion he demanded and an even smaller portion of what it’s going to take to cover the other 900 miles that need it.

With that proposal, Democrats have moved from “Walls are racist!” to “You can have 55 miles but a longer wall would be racist!” The way walls work didn’t change. The only thing that changed is Democrats and their stale slogan that any attempt to halt illegal immigration is bigoted.
The national media is already running interference for Democrats by making a distinction with no difference, as the Associated Press did Monday when it reported that “the money will be for vertical steel slats called bollards, not a solid wall.” That’s the “wall” Trump wants to build, dummies. Nobody is asking for a “solid wall.” Trump himself has pointed out that border agents have requested a wall they can “see through.” See through. See through. See through.
Democrats are giving up the ghost, and for that I guess we should be grateful. But, if they’re willing to build some wall, maybe the media should ask them: Why not the rest?
