As the GOP’s momentum builds ahead of the midterm elections, liberal pundits are pushing rhetoric that is more and more conspiratorial and, in some cases, outright unhinged.
The latest example of that is historian Michael Beschloss, who went on MSNBC to help the outlet hit its “panic porn” quota and claimed that historians 50 years from now may not be able to write about history, that he wasn’t certain there would be a free press, and that children would be arrested and killed if Republicans beat Democrats on Tuesday.

WHITE HOUSE WON’T NAME REPUBLICANS BIDEN BELIEVES WILL REJECT ELECTION RESULTS
Beschloss also said that we “could be six days away from losing our rule of law” and six days away from widespread violence across the country if Republicans take control of Congress, which they had as recently as four years ago. Who can forget the widespread violence of the GOP regime of 2018?
Not to be outdone, MSNBC’s “star” opinion hosts have been pushing their own outlandish theories. Chris Hayes has claimed that GOP victories will unleash “chaos” that the “median voter” is simply too stupid to comprehend. He also has theorized that the GOP would sabotage the economy to make President Joe Biden look bad (as if Biden and the Democratic Party haven’t done that well enough themselves).
Hayes has also pushed the same democracy doomsaying as Beschloss, arguing that voters need a one-party Democratic state to protect from a one-party Republican state.
.@chrislhayes on what Dems mean by ‘democracy is on the ballot’:
“What they’re really saying is, ‘If you don’t elect us this time, if you don’t keep them out of power, you may never be able to elect us again.’ Or in short, ‘Vote to preserve your right to throw the bums out.’” pic.twitter.com/VgakHBnw6p

And, of course, there is Joy Reid, the Michael Jordan of media conspiracy theorists. Reid claims that pollsters are fabricating poll results to “tip the balance” of polling averages and convince everyone that “Republicans are surging and a red wave is imminent and inevitable.” We can check back on her prediction of major Democratic victories in a few days.
Joy Reid was wearing her tin foil hat tonight. She’s accusing polling groups such as Real Clear Politics of trying to “flood the zone” with fake polls to make it seem like Republicans are headed toward victory in next week’s midterm elections. pic.twitter.com/kN5hg5Mo0e

But Reid hasn’t stopped there, claiming that voting for Republicans is “literal fascism” and will lead to “female serfdom” and “climate collapse.” (Luckily, she has nothing to worry about, given that she has shown that all of the polls are fake and Democrats are actually cruising to victory). More hilariously, Reid claims that no one knew what “inflation” meant until Republicans taught them. Of course, no one would have otherwise noticed that prices were higher than they have been for 40 years unless they learned that magic word.

The rhetoric from MSNBC and other liberal media outlets will only grow more unhinged in the coming days, and they will hit a fever pitch when Reid’s polling conspiracy theory is shattered on Election Day. And yet the world will keep on turning, no matter how many times liberal pundits scream about how it has stopped.
