President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID today, the White House announced. The positive test comes several months after Biden received his second booster shot in March. This would mean Biden has had four vaccine doses and still tested positive for COVID.
“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wrote in a statement. “He has begun taking Paxlovid.”
Biden’s positive test comes exactly one year to the day when he assured the American public that if you were vaccinated, you wouldn’t get the virus. He said this in Ohio during a town hall about the pandemic hosted by CNN’s Don Lemon.
“You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations,” Biden said on July 21, 2021. One year later, he did.
Wouldn’t this be disinformation? Wouldn’t this mean the president lied? Wouldn’t this mean that everything the legacy media and left-wing politicians and pundits routinely accused President Donald Trump of doing, Biden does himself? It does if Biden was held to the same standards that Trump was. It’s indicative of the widespread dangers associated with the Left’s hankering for disinformation governance.
And while many who dislike Biden will embrace the schadenfreude that comes with him testing positive, everyone should hope the president recovers. For better or worse — and in actuality much worse — he is our president. And even though many on the Left did not do the same when Trump contracted COVID, no one should wish death upon our president. Yet there is a certain level of irony that he tested positive on this date.
The notion that vaccinations will prevent anyone from getting COVID has long been exposed as false. But Biden never received the level of scrutiny and condemnation for this incorrect claim that he should have. This is especially true considering how the Left, legacy media, and Democratic politicians routinely eviscerated Trump and accused him of lying and misleading anytime he stumbled over words or stated things that turned out to be incorrect later.
Many of the things Biden promised the country regarding COVID turned out to be wildly incorrect. Let’s not forget that more people died during Biden’s first year with COVID than Trump’s year with COVID — and that was with the benefit of hindsight and a vaccination program. Biden’s error is just yet another example of hypocrisy by the Left and Democrats.
