The Daily Outrage: First-class justice

WHO: Department of Justice foreign training programs WHAT: DOJ’s inspector general studied 32 foreign trips in which “premium class travel” was purchased on the government’s dime for two programs — the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) and the Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training (OPDAT).

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: To qualify for “premium class travel,” a trip segment must be longer than 14 hours. The IG found “six ICITAP trips and two OPDAT trips with segments in premium class that did not meet the 14-hour rule. The total airfare for these trips totaled $57,760.”

WHERE TO VENT: Call ICITAP at 202-305-8190, and OPDAT at 202-514-1437.
