Former Arkansas governor and possible 2016 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee met with a group of reporters this morning at a hotel outside Washington. The conversation covered a wide range of topics — more on that in a later report — but when asked about 2016 Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Huckabee, who has known both Clintons for a very long time, called her “a policy genius.”
Giving his general impression of the former secretary of state, Huckabee said, “Smart, tough, don’t ever underestimate her. In many ways, she’s a policy genius, but I don’t know if she has that same affable charm that her husband does. But then, who does?”
Huckabee, who is mulling his own 2016 run, added that he is still not certain Clinton will run. “I think she’d be a very formidable candidate,” Huckabee said. “But while I think she’s very seriously doing everything to move toward the point of being a candidate, I’m not absolutely convinced that she jumps in the water.”
