President Trump and other conservative leaders must be tired of being called racist. It’s not only a terrible insult, it is patently untrue, as we point out in our new book Coming Home, How Black Americans Will Re-Elect Trump.
Chapter 14 of our book is titled “Going On Offense.” We believe that is what Trump and conservatives must do on the race issue. We don’t advocate exaggerations or lies by conservatives but simply having the courage to tell the truth.

And this is the kind of speech we wish Trump would give.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” he would begin. “Liberals and others have called for an honest discussion of race in America, and that’s what you are going to hear tonight.”
“You and I know what terrible scars slavery and segregation are on our great American legacy, but we also remember the hundreds of thousands of lives expended in a Civil War to free the slaves. And we know that our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, not only issued the Emancipation Proclamation but also secured passage of the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery forever in our land.”
“We know some other things too. We know that each and every slaveholder was a Democrat. How could it be otherwise when the Republican Party was created by abolitionists? We also know that segregation was a product of the early Progressive movement.”
“Democrats talk a good game, but with them, it’s all talk and no action. They love the symbolism of changing street names and school mascots, of taking down statues. But when it comes to matters that actually help black Americans, they are nowhere to be found.”
“How would you describe a presidential candidate that effectively stands in the schoolhouse door and blocks the access of poor black children to good schools? I’d call it racist. That’s exactly what Joe Biden is pledging to do when he says he’ll shut down all choice schools. What do you call a candidate that supports an organization such as Planned Parenthood that specifically targets black babies for abortion? I’d call it racist. What do you call a candidate that welcomes illegal aliens that take away jobs and drive down the wages of struggling black Americans? I’d call it racist. What do you call a presidential candidate that vows to destroy low-cost oil and gas and replace it with high-cost solar and wind power, making it harder for poor black Americans to escape poverty? I’d call it racist.”
“Biden and Barack Obama talked about prison reform and helping Historic Black Colleges and Universities, but unlike me, they did nothing about it. And what do you call a presidential candidate who opposes cutting regulations and opposes cutting taxes that give jobs to black Americans?”
“I think you get the idea. Joe Biden and the news media may call you a racist, and they may call me a racist, but they know in their hearts that they are the true racists.”
“I believe in you, and I believe in America. I believe in equal opportunity for all people. And I have lived that belief as a businessman and as your president. Prior to the coronavirus, our economic policies had created the lowest black, Hispanic, Asian, and female unemployment rates in recorded history. We will do it again. Our policies caused real wage increases for people — all people, especially for black Americans. And, we have done this in spite of Democratic opposition.”
“Tonight, I have given you an honest view of racism in America. Yes, we can all do better, but the racist policies of the Democratic Party must end now. Thank you, and God bless America.”
That’s the speech we’d like to see Trump give.
