While campaigning for president, Joe Biden routinely lambasted then-President Donald Trump for his alleged habitual lying. Biden (and other Democrats) regularly promised that if they were elected, they would return to being honest with the people. Fast forward a couple of years after Biden won the election, and that promise was quickly abandoned. And there may be no greater example of Biden’s disinformation than his administration’s comments regarding inflation. The fib-telling has become so egregious that even Twitter, long known to censor Republicans and conservatives, has started calling out the Biden administration’s challenges with the truth.
Earlier this week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre touted a claim on Twitter that the economy had 0% inflation in July.
“We just received news that our economy had 0% inflation in July,” Jean-Pierre tweeted. “While the price of some things went up, the price of others, like gas, clothing, and more, dropped.”
Except this entire claim is misleading. It is something one would expect out of a totalitarian regime’s communication network, not from the president of the United States — especially a presidential administration that emphasized the importance of honesty. Twitter caught on to this and issued a disclaimer, citing the tweet’s disinformation.
“This is misleading because it would cause people to believe inflation was 0% in July when in reality the year over year inflation for July was 8.5%,” the Twitter warning said. “The 0% inflation comes from the month over month inflation between June and July.”
But this is nothing new for the Biden presidency. They proactively engage in redefining terms to fit their warped reality. Consider the facts.
Since Biden has been in office, his administration has tried to redefine what a woman is, what a recession is, and now what inflation is. If Trump had done this, the media and the Democrats would be up in arms, whining about “threats to democracy.” But because Biden is systematically trying to redefine the norms of America’s society, the Democratic sycophants say nothing.
It’s nice to see Twitter finally flag a tweet from the Biden administration as false, given its penchant for not being honest with people. I suppose it’s better late than never. But this is Biden and his minions in a nutshell. When things are horrifically at record-breaking levels of bad, they create “fake facts” to persuade the public that all is well.
