George Soros-backed American Bridge attacks Republican Gov. Larry Hogan for not ‘offering any alternatives’ to Senate healthcare bill

In one of the more bizarre strategies employed in the fight over healthcare, Democratic super PAC American Bridge attacked Gov. Larry Hogan, R-Md., for not offering alternatives to the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act.

“Gov. Hogan has offered no ideas to fight this disastrous bill that would leave Marylanders paying more for less coverage and roll back efforts to fight the opioid epidemic… all for a few tax breaks for the wealthiest few,” the group, backed by George Soros to the tune of $2 million last year, said in a statement released Monday.

Spokesperson Lizzy Price added, “Gov. Hogan has failed to lead on healthcare for years and he’s not offering any alternative to this horrendous bill that gives tax breaks to the wealthiest few at the expense of Marylanders’ health. Maryland families deserve better than lazy grandstanding, but that’s all Hogan has to offer.”

To be clear, Hogan is (A) a governor, not a member of the United States Senate, who has (B) already stated his firm opposition to the bill, arguing last week that it would “put hundreds of thousands of people out on the streets with no coverage.” I guess that constitutes “lazy grandstanding” in their book.

In summation, American Bridge wasted time attacking someone who agrees with them on the bill, who has no vote or say on the bill, for not offering alternatives to the bill.

Shockingly, this isn’t the first time a Republican has been attacked by Democrats for opposing the Senate healthcare bill.

Will they give every Democratic governor get the same treatment?
