Have Republicans really warmed to Russia?

Several alarming polls have suggested that, amid President-elect Trump’s candidacy and the election, Republican voters have suddenly taken a much less negative view of Russia and its quasi-dictator, Vladimir Putin. But today, the Washington Post has a write-up of a poll that shows no such thing:


I have no idea which one is right. But I wonder whether (and if so, why) you would get such different results between a simple “fav/unfav” poll and an unusual poll like this one, which asks you to express your feelings numerically.
