UN campaign for women stumbles into pro-life message

It turns out that fighting for girls worldwide means resisting abortion.

He for She is a United Nations campaign aimed at fighting gender discrimination on a worldwide scale. It’s not a conservative campaign. He for She emphasizes that, “we all have the right to make decisions about our bodies, our partners, and our families.”

On the other hand, U.N. is outspoken against gender-biased sex selection. According to its data, there are over 100 million girls missing worldwide. In the U.S., sex-selective abortion — still controversial — is only banned in seven states.

It’s surprising that the campaign released an image with a clear pro-life implication because it also openly favors legal abortion. Emma Watson, one of the campaign’s most forefront leaders, is an outspoken advocate for Planned Parenthood.

Regardless if He for She is tied to Planned Parenthood, or if it meant to be pro-life, the tweet carries an important message. It illuminates the rights of the preborn, and the fact that the importance and potential in that little life doesn’t only become important at birth. This should already be a fundamental understanding: boys and girls deserve to get an equal chance at life.
