If you wanted a reading on the GOP electorate’s view of Washington, look at the presidential polls. Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, with zero days of elected office amongst them, combine for 50 percent of the vote.
The two Washington politicians making the strongest moves behind them, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, are first-term U.S. senators who both beat the GOP establishment to get their jobs.
Political novices typically can’t hold onto leads in polls. If the current three front-runners fade, there are lots of votes for the others to fight over. Rubio and Cruz are currently making the strongest move for those voters.
