Take Fauci’s lying more seriously

Almost a week has passed since the National Institutes of Health revealed its role in funding viral gain-of-function research in Wuhan. This admission showed that Dr. Anthony Fauci was not truthful when he denied the research was going on.

Sen. Rand Paul said for weeks that Fauci’s credibility was suspect. He was vilified in the media for it.

On May 12, Paul asked Dr. Fauci if he still supported NIH funding of the lab in Wuhan.

Fauci replied, “Sen. Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely and completely incorrect that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute.”

On two other occasions, Fauci repeated these denials.

On May 26, Fauci stated, “That is correct,” when asked if the NIH never funded gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute.

And, on July 20, “Dr. Fauci, knowing that it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement on May 11 where you claimed that the NIH never funded gain of function research in Wuhan?” Paul asked Fauci.

He replied, “I have never lied before the Congress, and I do not retract my statement.”

On Oct. 20, the truth came out. The Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter stating the U.S. nongovernmental group EcoHealth Alliance violated the terms and conditions of NIH grant AI110964. Richard Ebright tweeted this information, and he also declared that this shows that Fauci, along with NIH Director Francis Collins, made untruthful assertions.

“EcoHealth failed to report this finding right away, as was required by the terms of the grant,” the letter said. “EcoHealth is being notified that they have five days from today to submit to NIH any and all unpublished data from the experiments and work conducted under this award.”

“‘I told you so’ doesn’t even begin to cover it here,” Paul tweeted on Oct. 20. The senator has been leading the charge on this issue for quite some time now, and the liberal media declared him persona non grata for doing so. Yet, in the end when all the truth and facts came out, Paul was right.

Fauci became the media’s favorite doctor during the pandemic, but it took Dr. Paul to expose the skeletons in his closet. He deserves a few apologies.
