Matt Salmon should be, and needs to be, Arizona’s next governor.
I have known Matt for many years. He is a friend. I trust him to represent my state and fight against the relentless encroachments into our state by the lawless overreach of the federal government.
And, if America is to be saved as a free republic, we need governors who will stand strong against the feds.
I also want someone who is proven, someone who has stood against the establishment elites in our own party and the leftists who are attempting to remake the country into a fictional Marxist utopia.
Matt is that kind of fighter. He is a proven fighter. When he was in Congress, he co-founded the House Freedom Caucus. He took on the Obama administration and helped remove a go-along-to-get-along Republican speaker of the House.
Arizona needs a governor with that kind of resolve.
Matt represents the values that Arizonans share. He is pro-life, and not just in word. He has taken the votes, even when the pro-abortion crowd has been out with their sharp knives, to protect the innocent unborn.
He has a track record of protecting the Second Amendment rights that are essential and fundamental. He actually has a voting record that demonstrates his credibility on this issue.
Matt has always supported the police and had compassion for crime victims. He will help fight crime and help restore the understanding that the thin blue line protects our rights and our families.
The failure of the Biden administration to secure our border requires a governor and legislature that will step in and bring order to this dangerous security threat. Matt understands that and will lead, just as a couple of other governors have on this issue — Florida’s Ron DeSantis (also a former House Freedom Caucus member) and Texas’s Greg Abbott. Matt will be a national leader as our governor.
Matt also has worked on water issues for many years and understands how we can resolve this important issue. He gets our need for energy so that we don’t become like California, home of rolling brownouts.
Matt has private sector experience and government experience. He is the right man for this job at this time.
The father of the U.S. Constitution, James Madison, taught that there must be a separation of powers horizontally and vertically in order for freedom to persist. That means the states are meant to push back against the federal government, not aid and abet it in spending us into oblivion. Matt is the one person running who I know understands that and will push back.
That’s why I support my friend Matt Salmon for our next governor and urge everyone else to support him as well.
Andy Biggs, a Republican, represents Arizona’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
