Democrats are already exploiting Hurricane Fiona for climate change hysteria

Hurricane Fiona, like many hurricanes from the last century, wreaked havoc in the Caribbean earlier this week. It hit Puerto Rico, knocking out most of the island’s electrical grid and causing power outages, according to the Associated Press. Hundreds of people have been stranded, and the storm has claimed the lives of two people so far — one in Puerto Rico and one in the Dominican Republic.

Yet, even as the storm continued to cause devastation, it did not stop Democrats from exploiting the tragedy for agenda-driven hysteria about climate change. Such hyperbolic nonsense is par for the course for the Left. However, it doesn’t make it any less despicable.

Consider Robert Reich’s ridiculous tweet, which blamed the storm on climate change.

“Once again, Puerto Rico is being slammed by an epic storm,” Reich tweeted. “It’s not enough to send our thoughts to the Puerto Rican people. We must act on climate. Now.”

Sadly, this has become a typical pattern for Reich. Anytime there is a hurricane that causes appreciable damage, Reich is closely behind, tweeting about the perils of climate change and offering his opinion as if it is some indisputable, absolute fact. A little over a year ago, he spoke as a climate expert, tweeting with absolute certainty that it was warm water caused by global warming that has led to powerful hurricanes.

This is indeed a theory, but many scientists have disputed such claims.

Reich, the former secretary of labor under President Bill Clinton, has no scientific expertise. His musings exemplify the kind of junk science claims that people on the Left use to reinforce their climate change hysteria. Reich talks like hurricanes in the Caribbean have not existed for hundreds of years, long before whatever the Left claims humans did to cause global warming or climate change. Reich’s tweet is just irresponsible and pathetic.

It is one thing to warn about the planet’s rising temperature and some theories as to its causes or effects. It’s another thing to blame every single hurricane on climate change. It’s junk science. These people should be ashamed of attempting to exploit tragedies for political gain. No one should listen to or believe anything they say.
