The Republican National Committee raised an astounding $20.6 million in November, even as the House moved forward with its impeachment proceedings against President Trump. And already, Trump himself is wearing impeachment like a badge of honor, sending out fundraising missives to his base.
Republicans just enjoyed the best November fundraising haul in party history, an RNC spokesperson told Fox News. In total, the party now has an estimated $63.2 million in cash.
The new fundraising figures come as opposition to impeaching and removing the president from office has officially overtaken support, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.
In other words, the Democratic Party has some serious problems going into the 2020 presidential election. They need these trends to reverse, especially now that they have officially pulled the trigger on impeachment. There is no going back now — and no do-overs, for that matter.
Before impeachment, I believed that unless Democrats break through to the middle with their message against Trump, the “only thing the impeachment proceedings will accomplish is that they will fire up Trump’s base ahead of a presidential election, all while setting up the Left’s constituency for massive disappointment.” This appears to be happening, and both the Trump campaign and the RNC are capitalizing on the mess.
The Trump campaign has already sent out a fundraising email, capitalizing on Wednesday’s impeachment vote, under the subject line, “Officially Impeached.”
Pelosi “is a liar and a fraud,” reads the email. “Last night, we witnessed the most PARTISAN SCAM in American history and it resulted in the house officially IMPEACHING me. 229 Radical Democrats voted to take away YOUR vote and undo the 2016 election. Three years of taxpayer-funded WITCH HUNTS all concluded the same thing – I DID NOTHING WRONG.”
It adds, “This is an attack on Democracy. An attack on freedom. An attack on everything we hold dear in this country. And it’s an attack on YOU. It’s US against THEM in this impeachment war. And we need to strike first. I’m upping our goal to $4 MILLION in the next 24 HOURS. Only the power of the American people can defend me in this fight and end Democratic corruption once and for all.”
Maybe Democrats have a plan to reverse the way things are going. Then again, maybe this impeachment business will prove to be quite a political self-own.
