In the latest episode of the reality television show RuPaul’s Drag Race, guest judge Jeff Goldblum told a politically incorrect truth about Islam. Naturally, all hell broke loose.
Appearing on the popular show with a large audience among liberals, gay people, and transgender people, Goldblum asked one contestant, who was wearing a red, white, and blue Islamic head covering: “Is there something in this religion that is anti-homosexuality and anti-woman? Does that complicate the issue? I’m just raising it and thinking out loud and maybe being stupid.”
It was an innocent enough question, but it stumbled on the truth that Islam is, in practice, the most anti-gay religion in the world. On average, Islamic-majority countries are substantially more hostile toward gay people than others. But because the intellectual sickness of intersectional dogma has so consumed left-wing ideologues, Goldblum, a white man, is now being savaged as a bigot for questioning Islamic dogma about homosexuality and women’s rights, dogma that his attackers would never openly espouse or even tolerate in others.
The social media mob descended on him in full force:
hate that fucker jeff goldblum sooooooo much get off drag race please stop asking whether islam is “anti LGBT and anti woman”

In an Islamophobic society, it takes no courage to argue or imply that Islam is inherently anti-woman or anti-LGBTQ. It takes courage to interrogate the past & present anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ practices & policies of Christian-majority nations like the U.S. #JeffGoldblum #DragRace pic.twitter.com/AsrEfCNgYq

Jeff Goldblum felt the need to say “but isn’t Islam anti-gay and anti-woman” to Jackie because she was wearing a stars-and-stripes hijab, as if America hasn’t been anti-gay and anti-woman from the outset, or killed and displaced millions of Muslims, including women and queers…

I really don’t need to see the islamophobic Jeff Goldblum clip on the second day of Ramadan so please stop sharing it and remember: if you bring up homophobia and sexism every time someone mentions Islam but not Christianity you’re racist. That’s it. You are.

this mentality does nothing but harm to Muslims and especially LGBT Muslims, but “Islam hates gays why are you Muslim” how come no one says that to Christians and Jewish LGBT folks? Jeff Goldblum was a dead ass wrong for that #DragRace

Jeff Goldblum’s commentary tonight on drag race has been really off-putting, the whole “just wondering out loud, Islam is a misogynistic, homophobic faith” is not cool

On @RuPaulsDragRace, Jeff Goldblum was wrong & being stupid. A white non-Muslim man abusing his platform to push Islam as anti-homosexuality & anti-woman erases Muslim women & LGBT people fighting to practice Islam while affirming their identity. As usual, this outrage is divorced from facts and reality.
“No fewer than 40 out of 57 Muslim-majority countries or territories have laws that criminalize homosexuality, prescribing punishments ranging from fines and short jail sentences to whippings and more than 10 years in prison or death,” the Wall Street Journal reported in 2016. “In 33 out of 36 [Muslim majority countries surveyed], more than 75% of those surveyed answered that homosexuality was ‘morally wrong,’ and in only three did more than 10% of those surveyed believe that homosexuality was ‘morally acceptable.’”
If you read the list of more than 70 countries where homosexuality is still criminalized, it takes a lot of willful ignorance to avoid noticing the pattern. And no, there is absolutely no comparison to Christianity — can you name the 40 Christian countries that criminalize or kill gay people? How about even one? As for what “takes courage,” there’s nothing easier or less requiring of courage today than to dunk on Christians who believe homosexuality is wrong.
None of this is to say that all Muslims are anti-gay. This is a stereotype, and it isn’t true. Many Muslims are open-minded and tolerant, as well as the many Muslims who are themselves gay or transgender. And, of course, any discrimination or hatred toward a group of people on the basis of their religion is wrong. We should reserve judgment for all individuals on the basis of their specific values, beliefs, and behavior.
But it is perfectly fair to question and point out the fact that Islam is, in practice, the most anti-gay major religion in the world. Yet so many on the woke, online Left blind themselves to this on purpose, even to the point of mindlessly attacking a liberal actor such as Goldblum for daring to mention the Islamic world’s treatment of gay people. It’s just another reminder that adherence to identity politics and critical thinking simply cannot coexist.
