Lawsuit filed, as transgender ‘women’ dominate women’s high school athletics

After two biological males eliminated Selina Soule from a Connecticut high school track competition, Alliance Defending Freedom filed a complaint with Connecticut’s Title IX Department of Education Office for Civil Rights to represent Selina and two other females athletes. The other athletes have remained anonymous because they fear retaliation, but Selina bravely spoke up on Fox News this week.

In the spring of 2018, Selina Soule was running in a competition where the top six athletes advanced to the next round. Selina was sixth among the biological women in the race, but because two biological men who identified as women were allowed to compete, Selina finished eighth, and was eliminated.

The topic of transgender athletes shatters the illusion of leftist intersectionality, and it reveals that transgenderism is squarely at odds with feminism. But unlike feminists concerned about their “right” to have taxpayer-funded abortions, this issue threatens true gender equality.

In its official complaint to the Connecticut Title IX office, which was filed on Tuesday, Alliance Defending Freedom included 2019 statistics from the top male and female high school athletes in the state to demonstrate how unfair it is to allow biological men to compete as females. For example, in the 100 meter dash, the top 10 male times ranged from 9.98 seconds to 10.30 seconds, while the top 10 females ranged from 11.02 seconds to 11.50 seconds. Similarly, in the indoor 800 meter dash, the top ten male times were 110.57 seconds to 113.53 seconds, and female times were significantly slower, ranging from 123.98 seconds to 128.97 seconds.

Connecticut’s 2017 rule change that allowed students to compete based on gender identity has terribly harmed women’s sports. A single male transgender student now holds 10 state records which previously belonged to 10 different girls. This issue isn’t just affecting one female athlete here and there. Over time, this could completely destroy all female sports as men continue to take more and more records. Additionally, in reducing the ranking of female athletes like Selina, transgender athletes are also decreasing the likelihood of these females earning college scholarships and building their own careers in women’s athletics.

“[This] reverses nearly 50 years of advances for women under Title IX,” ADF says. “Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. Forcing female athletes to compete against biological males isn’t fair and destroys their athletic opportunities.”
