Do-good liberals have decided that it is imperative to teach critical race theory in schools. Racism must be addressed by any means necessary, after all, even if that means failing Hispanic students in an “ethnic studies” class.

Last year, California mandated ethnic studies be taught in all public high schools. The grand successes of this plan are being previewed in Salinas, a heavily Hispanic district. Kali Fontanilla, a high school English teacher whose students were learning English as a second language,
blew the whistle
on the curriculum, which was explicitly labeled as critical race theory.

The curriculum was supposed to help minority students by making them understand that they are oppressed. And they are being oppressed — by the curriculum. According to Fontanilla, half of her students were failing the ethnic studies course, and the course replaced a more popular health class.

But the students, liberal thinking goes, have to know the truth. All students must be taught that American society is racist to its core, even immigrants who escaped to this country because their parents knew they had far more opportunity here than in their home countries.

This, in the liberal mind, is how racism will be solved: mandating classes for minority students to fail so they know the system is out to get them. While students across the country are reading below grade level, failing math, and floundering after two years of virtual learning, they are at least learning that you can, in fact, find the letter “F” in “equity.”
