Who’s afraid of Winsome Sears?

Winsome Sears is a black immigrant from Jamaica who served as a Marine, ran a business, and believes strongly in the Second Amendment. She should represent everything that any American would be proud of.

But Sears is also a Republican, one who just won statewide office in Virginia. So, of course, that makes her a target of mockery instead of praise. Cue Saturday Night Live.

On last Saturday’s “Weekend Update” segment, SNL cast member Michael Che flashed a picture of Sears safely holding a firearm in a completely nonthreatening manner and introduced her as “Winsome Sears, seen here attempting suicide by cop, was elected as Virginia’s first black female lieutenant governor.”

Che then added, “This is actually a win for Democrats because nothing will get Republicans to support gun control faster than this picture.”

Liberals need to get out of the city and go to a gun range more often. People who believe in the Second Amendment are very used to seeing their black compatriots handling firearms at the range. In fact, no demographic saw a more significant jump in lawful gun ownership over the past two years than black people. Unfortunately, the only people who are triggered by pictures of law-abiding residents responsibly holding firearms are rich liberals such as Che.

Maybe SNL will do some real comedy someday and do a skit focusing on how liberals and Democrats are afraid of black, conservative, female Republicans. Perhaps they will be courageous and invite Sears to be a guest host, showing cast members such as Che that they no longer have to be afraid of their horror? Sears could put their fears at ease and show that, yes, black women can be both successful and not reliant on liberal, Democratic government policies. Now, that would be funny.
