Who: Mediaite writer Tommy Christopher
What: Here’s the headline over his piece from Friday: “Mitt Romney’s ‘Obama Isn’t Working’ Banner Evokes Racial Stereotypes.” He writes: “The slogan is a multiple entendre, but one of those entendres, intentionally or not, is evocative of a nasty racial stereotype about black men.”
Why it’s dim: It’s dim enough just ipso facto, but the slogan is a self-conscious knockoff of Margaret Thatcher’s 1978 campaign: “Labour isn’t working.” Christopher only became aware of this after he published his ridiculous piece.
Cure: There is no cure for Christopher — for the rest of us, it’s to laugh at him.
