The State of the Union is an almost total waste of time. President Joe Biden’s latest performance was an exercise in abject lies regarding the economy, the border, and women’s wombs, combined with the strange assumption that the president’s policies will solve problems related to the climate, artificial intelligence, and cancer — in future decades.
But nestled within the lies and crystal-ball-gazing were a handful of real-time policy announcements. One was particularly stunning, standing as yet another reminder that Biden is a walking, barely talking, foreign policy disaster.
With Hamas’s congressional representatives holding up ceasefire signs and hoards of Palestinian activists blocking traffic on the streets of Washington, D.C., Biden finally addressed the horrors of Oct. 7, including the waves of “sexual violence” and the hundreds of hostages taken.
“I pledge to all the families that we will not rest until we bring their loved ones home,” Biden promised, before acknowledging an obvious fact: “Hamas could end this conflict today by releasing the hostages, laying down arms, and surrendering those responsible for October 7th.”
But then, things went off the rails. Biden said that “more than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed,” and while thousands of civilians have tragically died, this number is simply a regurgitation of Hamas propaganda. He then announced that the U.S. military would “lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier” in Gaza to enable a “massive increase” in humanitarian assistance. And then, worst of the worst, he lectured Israel on “protecting and saving innocent lives” and said the “only real solution is a two-state solution.”
Setting aside the bizarre call for a two-state solution as the latest chapter in the West’s insane history of trying to reward Palestinian terrorism with statehood, statehood Palestinians have rejected on multiple occasions in favor of terrorism, the call to protect innocent lives alongside the call to provide Hamas with additional infrastructure is as jarring as it is moronic.
First off, building any infrastructure for a region controlled entirely by Hamas (the enemy of a key American ally and the group responsible for the death of at least 32 Americans on Oct. 7, with at least six American hostages remaining) will only benefit Hamas.
Without a doubt, there are countless Palestinians suffering as a direct result of Hamas and its actions on Oct. 7. But we cannot ignore that providing aid to Gaza does not guarantee that any Palestinian civilians will receive this aid.
What will stop Hamas terrorists from doing what they have done with every resource available to Gaza and taking it for themselves? What will stop them from leveraging this new port of entry to smuggle in weapons to further their war on Jews?
And how will the U.S. military establish and protect a port without U.S. boots on the ground, as Biden promised? And what happens when these inevitable boots on the ground come under fire?

Yet again, Biden is making promises that sound great until you scratch beneath the surface and understand both the mentality of Hamas and the reality of war.
Humanitarian aid for those who truly need it is one thing. Humanitarian aid being hijacked by a terrorist group to support its war on Jews is another.
