The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced on Wednesday that it will not endorse a presidential candidate for the first time since 1996, eliciting a political firestorm that saw Republicans elated and Democrats furious.
In short order, and in an apparent rebuke of the national leadership, a number of local and state affiliates of the Teamsters announced that they would endorse the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris, even as a poll of rank-and-file Teamsters members indicated that 60% support former President Donald Trump.
