A political guide to the Washington Examiner commentary team!

The Washington Examiner’s unrivaled commentary desk is staffed by Tim Carney, David Freddoso, Jason Russell, Becket Adams, Emily Jashinsky, Phil Wegmann, Siraj Hashmi, Gabriella Munoz, and myself.

We have good discussions at the desk so I thought it might be fun to see where each of us stands on the political spectrum. I asked everyone on our team to complete a political test.

The charted results are provided below, but I have four takeaways for you to bear in mind as you consider them.

First, it is clear that our desk leans strongly towards conservative/center-right viewpoints. This may be an obvious point, but seeing as each participant knew their chart would not be labeled to them by name, I’m confident the results are accurate.

Second, while our desk obviously has a diversity of outlooks on various economic, foreign, and social policy issues, we are — to a rule — more libertarian than authoritarian in our overarching philosophies.

Third, two members of our desk are either moderate or center-left. Being a conservative publication, I believe our range of views sets us apart from nominally liberal outlets such as the Atlantic or the Washington Post. Put simply, conservatives are far more open-minded than some would believe!

Fourth, You would be surprised at who the results actually belong to!

Anyway, here they are…
