Protecting the homeland by day, DC beauty queen by night

President Ronald Reagan famously once said, “America has always been a land of optimism and opportunity — a grand combination that has seen us through trying times.” It’s a sentiment that has been widely embraced over the years, as it exemplifies America’s greatness. At the crux of Reagan’s quote is the significance of the American spirit of opportunity, the spirit of which Michelle Myers is arguably the living embodiment.

Originally a Trump-supporting, MAGA-loving, oil and gas accountant from Dallas, she’s made her way to Washington with an opportunity to accomplish something quite unique: become the next Ms. United States. And while that feat alone might not impress the non-pageantry crowd, the fact that she is doing this while holding a rigorous job in the government should. Many people in Washington have dual responsibilities, but not all of them hold a job with a federal agency responsible for securing the nation.

This is the story of Michelle Myers — securing the homeland by day, Ms. District of Columbia United States by night.

What, like it’s hard?

But it actually was hard. Myers’s story is a fascinating one. It’s the kind of tale that, had Disney not embraced radical left-wing cultural orthodoxy, could have been turned into the next feel-good family movie for which the entertainment company used to be known.

Myers is of Mexican heritage and was born and raised in Plano, Texas, outside of Dallas. During her youth, she struggled with a speech impediment, which presented challenges in her life that her peers did not have to face. She overcame all of them. With a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and a master’s from the University of Texas, she went on to arguably the most stereotypically Texas career possible: the oil and gas industry. Along the way, she started listening to Rush Limbaugh and became hooked on politics.

“I didn’t realize it at the time,” Myers said. “Those hours learning from ‘El Rushbo’ would later shape my approach to communication and media.”

Myers became involved in politics, supporting President Donald Trump’s campaigns in 2016 and 2020 and joining the organization Lexit — Latino Exit from the Democrat Party. She had a chance encounter with Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) and became his communications director in 2023. Approximately two years later, she landed a job with the Department of Homeland Security. The little girl from Plano, Texas, who had a speech impediment, was now a communications director for a congressman and worked in public affairs for DHS.

Through it all, she embodied the American spirit of opportunity, the very thing Reagan championed.

“How does a MAGA oil and gas accountant from Dallas, Texas, end up working at the Office of Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and become Ms. District of Columbia 2025?” she said. “Only in America.”

During her transformation from accountant to DHS powerhouse and beauty queen, Myers witnessed firsthand the damage caused by the horrific immigration policies of the Biden administration. What she saw changed her life and led her to a higher calling.

“As a Texan, I saw from the front lines the devastation Joe Biden’s open-border policies brought to my community,” Myers said. “When the Trump administration gave me the opportunity to serve with those protecting our homeland, it gave me a chance to fight to undo that damage.”

She also said her background was integral to her views on illegal immigration. Her love for politics, adoration of Limbaugh, and all-around intelligence and intuitiveness ultimately helped guide her career ambitions.

“As a Hispanic and proud Texan, I cannot stand by and allow my community to be overrun by violent criminal illegal aliens who shouldn’t even be in our country,” Myers said. “I was inspired by President Trump’s courage to do what is right and protect Americans—even in the face of radical leftists and the media, who put Americans in danger to advance their political agendas.”

Additionally, in her efforts to help protect the border, she aims to be a role model for children with speech impediments, encouraging them not to give up on their dreams. She is an inspiration both on and off the pageant floor, as well as in and out of her office.

“I want to show others that with faith, courage, and perseverance, any challenge, big or small, can be overcome,” Myers said. “President Trump said it best, ‘No dream is too big, no challenge is too great. Nothing we want for our future is beyond our reach.’”
