Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is in the midst of her full Democratic turn. With even President Donald Trump turning on her, it should be time for the GOP to be done with her once and for all.
Greene has been on a media tour, visiting every liberal media haven to trash Republicans. She is the new favorite Republican of CNN, MSNBC, ABC’s The View, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and toxic Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX). Even Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the biggest cheerleader of pure power grabs for the Democratic Party, wants to adopt Greene into the Democratic Party.

Republicans would be fools not to take her up on that offer. Greene has spent the past few months attacking the GOP speaker of the House on liberal media platforms, trying to help congressional Democrats keep Obamacare afloat, and obsessing over Israel. In response to Trump calling her a traitor, Greene implied that Trump was a traitor serving Israel’s interests: “Let me tell you what a traitor is,” Greene said. “A traitor is an American that serves foreign countries and themselves.”
None of this is surprising. Greene has been a wacky conspiracy theorist her entire political career. Republicans should have nipped her career in the bud when she was first elected, despite pushing QAnon conspiracy theories and 9/11 trutherism. Greene claimed that the 2018 California wildfires were caused by space lasers controlled by Rothschild investment group businesses (i.e., “Jewish space lasers” as the controversy became known). She peddles the Palestinian lie that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and is obsessed with the “Epstein files” because she thinks she can blame Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes on Israel.

Green contributes nothing of value to the Republican Party. Her fundraising can be replaced by any other GOP firebrand. She is not some legislative giant. She doesn’t move votes, as evidenced by the polls showing she would lose in embarrassing fashion if she ran for Senate against Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff. Before, she was an obnoxious provocateur whom Democrats tried to tie to normal Republicans as a political anchor. Now, she is no different than any other Democratic attack dog, attacking Trump and the GOP, protecting Obamacare, and ranting about Israel.
Greene is on the path to becoming the “former Republican” that Democrats trot out to talk about how bad Republicans are, just like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and others before her. She was never a useful asset for the GOP, and now she is an active antagonist on behalf of the Democratic Party. Republicans should have dumped her back in 2020, but the second-best time is now.
