The Republican National Committee has released a new web video pushing back against the “war on women” narrative by highlighting sexist comments from Democrats.
The video, titled “Democrats degrade women,” features clips — many of which are from just the past week — of Democratic men making sexist comments toward Republican women.
First up was Vincent Sheheen, running against South Carolina’s Republican Gov. Nikki Haley. During a rally last week, Sheheen told the crowd that “we are going to escort whore out the door,” referring to Haley.
Now, obviously he meant to say “her,” but after he made the mistake and corrected himself, he smirked and laughed along with the crowd. The Washington Post’s Nia-Malika Henderson said his reaction to the gaffe “was not an accident.”
Next was Aaron Woolf, who’s running for a New York House of Representatives seat. During a recent debate, Woolf said he didn’t know whether Republican candidate Elise Stefanik had ever worked manual labor like he and the other male candidate had. He then chastised her for “sitting behind a desk and operating a computer.”
The video also features Congressional candidate John Foust’s comment that his opponent, Virginia delegate Barbara Comstock, has never had a real job; Rep. Bruce Braley’s ad comparing Joni Ernst to a “chick”; and Alaska Sen. Mark Begich claiming Sen. Lisa Murkowski doesn’t like his ad because of a bad photo.
The video closes with Fox News host Andrea Tantaros saying that “misogynists are on the left, that is for sure.”
In a press release sent out with the video, RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day denounced the recent comments from the Left.
“Democrat candidates are getting increasingly desperate in the final days before the midterm election as they continue to attack female candidates with misleading stereotypes,” Day said. “The American people are tired of the Democrats’ deceitful and misleading insults. They are also tired of the Democrats’ attempts to label women as single-issue voters.”
