Why Biden would never agree to a Joe Rogan interview

It would be glorious. It would be laden with gaffes. And it would be just the sort of entertainment we deserve after a God-awful year of a global pandemic, government-manufactured recession, and nonstop rioting and looting. Joe Rogan moderating a presidential debate will also never, ever, happen because Joe Biden is petrified of any member of the media who won’t let him read talking points off of a teleprompter.

Rogan, whose multihour-long podcasts are ranked No. 1 in the world, according to Apple, offered to moderate a debate between President Trump and Biden. The president took the MMA personality up on the offer, endorsing the idea on Twitter. Biden won’t respond, and his selectively cushioned press pool won’t ask him about it.

The notion of Rogan, a potty-mouthed celebrity who accidentally ensnared Elon Musk in a government investigation by having him smoke marijuana on his show, sitting down with a sitting president and a former vice president may sound outlandish but is it any more absurd than Barack Obama buddying up to Zach Galifianakis on Between Two Ferns or Glozell Green, the YouTuber famous for getting in a tub with cereal and milk? The answer is that it’s obviously not, and Rogan’s previous interviews with Democratic presidential contenders Bernie Sanders, Andrew Yang, and Tulsi Gabbard proves he’s likely a lot less ignorant on issues voters actually care about than 99% of the Washington press corps.

But if Biden refuses to sit down with straight-shooting Fox News reporters such as Bret Baier and Chris Wallace, though he’ll be forced to in one of the upcoming debates, there’s no way his handlers would let him sit with Rogan, the former Bernie backer who’s moving to Texas to escape California’s incompetent Democratic governance. Not only are Rogan’s podcasts notoriously freewheeling, obliterating whatever chance Biden’s team would have of prepping him for talking points, but there’s not a chance in hell they would let him sit for a 4-hour long interview. Consider, while Trump traverses the country for rally after rally, Biden continues to bunker down in his basement, letting the bulk of the sycophantic media run his campaign for him.

No, the Rogan showdown will never happen, but Trump’s enthusiasm and Biden’s inevitable refusal to even address the issue speak volumes of which campaign actually disdains the media.
