President Trump in recent weeks hasn’t exactly been living up to his promise for “law and order.” But at the same time, we’re getting very strong reminders on how truly horrific things could become if Democrats gain yet more power in the next election.
Joe Biden is already flirting with the Black Lives Matter militants, saying in a recent interview that the police are often “the enemy” and that he’s willing to move some federal money from funding police departments to funding worthless “social programs” so dear in the hearts of liberals.
Washington Post columnist David Ignatius is one of those people on the Left calling for Biden to get even more aggressive about handing law enforcement policy over to the criminals.
“Conservatives shouldn’t own this theme any more than they do the American flag,” he wrote Tuesday. “A lawful and orderly America is also one that advances racial and economic equality.”
But there’s more to such statements than meets the eye, especially in the current environment. When Democrats talk about “racial and economic equality” right now, they mean fewer or no police and reparations for black people. Some of them say it out loud without even flinching.
Dozens of progressive groups last month signed a letter to Biden demanding that if he is elected, he must “ensure that the federal government permanently ends and ceases any further appropriation of funding to local law enforcement in any form, whether it be money for trainings, equipment, hiring, re-hiring, overtime, etc.,” and redirect that money to — you guessed it — social programs.
Naturally, it also called for Biden to champion reparations, and it came with a threat: “You cannot win the election without the enthusiastic support of Black voters.”
They’re pretending this is about fixing racism when, in reality, it’s about reordering the country in such a way that racial grievance and claims to victimhood are paramount.
Trump may have slipped on the promise to end “American carnage,” but there’s a rockslide coming if Biden and Black Lives Matter are put in control.
