Ominous signs for the Biden administration continue as a recent poll from the Dallas Morning News shows that less than 1 in 3 people (32%) approve of Biden’s handling of the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. This total includes 65% of Democratic voters, 20% of independent voters, and 37% of Latino voters.
Perhaps most importantly, the poll showed that 49% of Latino voters either disapproved or strongly disapproved of Biden’s handling of the border crisis.
Comparatively speaking, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is up for reelection this year, enjoys much more support. Fifty-two percent approve of how he has handled immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border. So far, his efforts have included plans for the state government to build a border wall. As one can imagine, illegal immigrant crossings are important for Texas — the state with the longest border with Mexico.
Data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed encounters with illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border reached the highest total ever in 2021. There were 1,659,206 encounters last year, eclipsing the previous highs of 1,643,679 in 2000 and 1,615,844 in 1986. Moreover, 27% of all illegal immigrants encountered in 2021 were repeat offenders. This was slightly above the total in 2020 when it was 26%.
Biden and other Democrats have touted most illegal immigrants are families fleeing gang violence, looking for sanctuary and safety in the United States. This is not true.
Although there were many unaccompanied children and family units, the data showed that “by far the largest number and share of encounters” — 64% in 2021 — “involved single adults.”
Additionally, statistics show the Biden administration heading in the wrong direction when it comes to illegal immigrants. The border crisis, whose existence Biden and border czar Kamala Harris deny, has also resulted in illegal immigrant encounters more than doubling in every sector along the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021. The biggest increase was in the Rio Grande Valley sector in Texas.
Furthermore, the U.S.-Mexico border is plagued with child trafficking. It has become a pathway for murderous cartels to exploit young children and illegally smuggle them at the border. In many cases, smugglers use children to take advantage of U.S. immigration loopholes that permit children and those accompanying them to be prioritized when entering the country. Once these children have served their purpose, they are frequently abandoned or abused by their handlers and, in many horrifying instances, live a life of de facto slavery. Most recently, there was the revelation that the Biden administration is secretly flying these illegal immigrants and settling them in the U.S. interior.
Mallory Staples, a congressional candidate in Georgia’s 6th District, recently visited the border and witnessed some of the horrors in person.
“What this administration is doing on the border under the dark of night is illegal,” Staples told me in an interview. “It is an assault on this country. There is not a greater crisis facing the American people than this one. Drugs, sex trafficking, crime, and a takeover of our voting system are what Biden and his handlers are successfully working towards. We must take action now to stop this and hold all involved responsible under the penalty of law.”
Republican political strategist Angie Wong also visited the border, witnessing firsthand the chaos occurring.
“The Biden administration has played a dangerous gaslighting game with the American public,” Wong told me. “The situation at the border is out of control. We’ve given them one year to sort this mess, and both Biden and Harris have failed this mission. Now both sides, migrants and Americans, are suffering greatly from the administration’s mismanagement and lack of empathy for the human horrors that are happening at our borders each day.”
Biden’s polling numbers regarding the border are bad everywhere, just like Texas. But the situation itself is much worse. Many innocent people have suffered under his watch regarding the horrors of the border crisis. As each day passes, the situation continues to worsen.
Yet, the president does absolutely nothing to improve the situation. As the most recent polling shows, as well as many other aspects of his presidency, Biden has failed.
