Trump’s historic border turnaround: Zero releases at the border for 11 consecutive months

EXCLUSIVE — The president securing the border, protecting citizens from criminal illegal immigrants, and implementing effective and common-sense border security policies is the new normal in the United States.

President Donald Trump has kept his campaign promise to secure the border. With new Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin now at the helm, the DHS and Customs and Border Protection reported there were zero releases of illegal immigrants at the border in March, marking the 11th consecutive month of doing so. It’s another example of promises made and promises kept as the Trump administration continues to deliver on its pledge to secure the border and protect U.S. citizens.

It’s a stark contrast from the porous border and illegal immigration anarchy of the Biden administration, which unquestionably prioritized the admission of illegal immigrants into the country over protecting innocent Americans. As a result, dangerous criminal illegal immigrants were granted access to enter the country and terrorize communities and harm innocent people. Unfortunately, the Biden administration’s border security policies, or lack thereof, contributed to the murders of innocent women such as Laken Riley, Rachel Morin, and Sheridan Gorman.

“It turns out we didn’t need new laws to secure our border,” assistant DHS Secretary Lauren Bis told the Washington Examiner. “We just needed a new President. President Trump promised to secure our borders. He’s delivered.”

Consider the progress made since Trump became president. There have been 14 consecutive months of fewer than 9,000 arrests at the southwestern border, according to Border Patrol. Moreover, there were 8,268 “apprehensions along the southwest border in March,” good for a 97% decrease from the zenith of the Biden administration’s disastrous December 2023. That total was also “90% lower than the monthly average” in over three decades (33 years)!

Trump has instituted monumental changes in border security since the beginning of his second term. He has guided his administration to clean up the messes created by Democrats and the Biden administration. It’s a fact that bears worth repeating, especially given the blood Democrats have on their hands from those murdered by people who should never have been in the country. All were crimes that could have been prevented, and the Trump administration takes steps every day to remedy the disasters Democrats created.

It starts with 11 months of zero releases at the border.

“Eleven straight months of zero releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “The world knows America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers.”

According to the DHS, daily arrests of illegal immigrants at the border have decreased 95% compared to when Joe Biden was president. This change shows that all of the excuses Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former DHS Secretary Alejando Mayorkas, and the cadre of Democrats in power made about illegal immigration and a lack of border security between January 2021 and January 2025 were nothing but lies.

All it took to secure the border and protect innocent people from criminal illegal immigrants was to change the president of the United States to a person who stood for U.S. citizens instead of sitting for them (as Democrats did during Trump’s State of the Union address). Trump’s guidance warrants recognition for these accomplishments, for it is not an exaggeration to say that border security is stronger now than at any time in recent history. Trump, the DHS, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement deserve a massive amount of credit for accomplishing this, especially given the resistance they faced from left-wing agitators, well-funded protests and demonstrations funded and organized by socialist and communist organizations, and Democratic politicians.

“America First policies, real consequences, and a unified federal effort — backed by personnel, infrastructure, and technology — are how we’ve delivered the most secure border in U.S. history,” said CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott. “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, we’re building on what works, refining our approach, and locking in real border security. This isn’t temporary — it’s the new normal.”
