President Trump says he’s serious about fighting the House Democrats’ impeachment sham. If so, there’s only one thing he needs to do right now: devote every resource to outing the whistleblower.
After Trump said last week that he deserved to “to meet my accuser” and that he’d like to “interview” the guy, Democrats and liberals in the national media were hysterical in reminding us that the whistleblower is protected by federal law.

True, there are laws that prevent retaliation — discipline, demotion, or termination — against federal employees who comes forward with allegations of wrongdoing within their agencies. But that only means that a whistleblower’s superiors can’t fire him or reduce his status. The law doesn’t guarantee anonymity. Trump has the same right that the rest of us do to confront his accuser and raise any appropriate questions about his credibility.
Yes, we know that the whistleblower is a man because the New York Times has referred to his sex in reports for the last two weeks. It’s a man who works in the CIA and who had previously worked in the White House. We even know the lawyer who’s representing him, Mark Zaid.
The inspector general of the intelligence community has likewise already said that the federal employee is a registered Democrat and has reportedly indicated that he has ties with one of the current Democratic presidential candidates. The only question about him left to ask is: What’s his name?
Dimwits are insisting that it doesn’t matter who the government employee is because, after all, it’s the content of his claim that matters!
But the only part of the government employee’s claim from August that has been corroborated is the part about Trump having a phone conversation with the leader of Ukraine and asking that he look into any potential corruption involving Joe Biden. And we only know that’s been corroborated because the White House released the transcript of the phone call.
We already knew that the president’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani had been talking with foreign leaders about the 2016 election and Biden, because Giuliani admitted it back in May. Everything else in the report is unsubstantiated and sourced to other parties.
So what is Trump waiting for? Find out the identity of the government employee and then leak it, the same way Democrats in Congress are certain to leak Trump’s tax returns the moment they get their hands on them. There’s nothing illegal or even ethically dubious about letting the public decide whether to believe the serious accusations made against the president of the United States. Democrats think we should wait until the impeachment trial, which will conveniently coincide with the heat of the 2020 election, but I think now is as good as ever.
The Washington Post reported this week that Democrats are taking extra precautions to ensure that Republicans never find out who the whistleblower is. I wonder why. It couldn’t possibly be that there’s something to hide. No, never. I’m sure the Democrat who is linked to one of the president’s opponents is completely unbiased in the concerns he’s brought forth to Democrats in Congress.
The government employee has no right to anonymity. Trump should find out who he is and let the rest of us know.
