In what looks like a de facto launch of a campaign for president in 2020, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., is taking the unprecedented step of testifying against a fellow senator’s Cabinet nomination.
Booker is testifying against Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., as Sessions hopes to be confirmed as the next attorney general.
While Booker tries to stand out and prove himself as a capable leader for the Democratic Party, he faces long odds of winning the Democratic nomination in 2020, at least according to gamblers.
Even potential longshot candidates like first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and even Hillary Clinton get better odds than Booker.
Gamblers give Booker a 3.4 percent chance of winning the 2020 election, while Biden and Clinton get a 3.8 percent chance. Obama gets a 5.8 percent chance. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., leads the field with an 8.3 percent chance.
Of all the possible candidates, regardless of party, President-elect Trump has the highest odds of winning the 2020 election, coming in at a 39.2 percent chance to win.
