President-elect Trump on Tuesday shot back at an unverified intelligence report on him that in part claimed that compromising information on Trump was acquired by the Federal Security Service through hidden microphones and cameras.
Trump said he wasn’t shocked there would be cameras or microphones put in a hotel room where he was staying in Moscow. He said he warns his staff to be careful about potential cameras in their rooms when they travel.
Ari Fleischer, former press secretary under President George W. Bush, said this happened once in China to then-Secretary of State Colin Powell. “I was with Bush in China and during our visit Colin Powell found a mic hidden in the chandelier in [his suite],” Fleischer tweeted.
I was with Bush in China and during our visit Colin Powell found a mic hidden in the chandelier in hsuite, dangling down. SOP.

Fleischer added that this was a common practice, not a rarity.
