Nothing is more pathetic than the impulse for social media-obsessed liberals to whine and complain any time a celebrity is loosely associated with some conservative cause or person. Nothing, that is, except for the fact that this impulse has gripped chunks of establishment media.
Actress Sydney Sweeney was shamed across social media for sharing photos from her mother’s 60th birthday party, which included parody “MAGA” hats that read, “Make Sixty Great Again,” and one attendant wearing a Blue Lives Matter shirt.
As you can imagine, this is a high crime for celebrities, who are required to sanitize all conservatism from their lives and uphold the doctrine of social justice at all times.
You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone ♥️ and Happy Birthday Mom!

That Sweeney was shamed by a bunch of useless liberal social media users for associating with normal people, the kind that make up about half the country, was bad enough. It was worse fact that she felt obligated to acknowledge their complaints with a response.
Far worse still is that this same mindset has taken root in pockets of establishment media, such that this somehow became a story that was worth covering in several outlets.
Sweeney claimed that some people had turned the celebration into “an absurd political statement.” CNN then decided to write a story about her “commenting on the backlash,” sharing one random social media user’s comment that smugly declared, “Lesson learned for you, I assume.” The “story” was also picked up by Vanity Fair and USA Today, the latter being the “largest local-to-national media organization in the country.”
Thank you, USA Today. Where would we be without the crucial information that some actress maybe has some conservative family members?
Vanity Fair is already little more than a glorified long-form tabloid, but CNN and USA Today still present themselves as serious news outlets. But celebrities with conservative relatives do not a news story make. It is, in fact, the norm for most people across the country. Responsible establishment media outlets should not casually reinforce toxic social media mobs that shame and destroy people for living normal lives. But increasingly, we do not have responsible establishment media outlets.
