Democrats just went off the deep end with their post office obsession

There was never any reason to take Democrats seriously in their pursuit of some unnamed conspiracy theory involving the Postal Service. But if there had been any doubt, Tennessee Rep. Jim Cooper just removed it.

During a hearing Monday with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Cooper, with a straight face, asked him if it was his “backup plan to be pardoned like Roger Stone.”

Yes, that really happened.

So, not only are Democrats convinced that President Trump is slowing down the mail (he’s not), but they’re now claiming that DeJoy may have committed a crime (he hasn’t).

Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney of New York was completely befuddled as to why mailing operations have slowed in recent weeks, apparently unaware that a pandemic has stopped the clock on every industry, including the Postal Service.

In any event, DeJoy explained everything going on at the Postal Service last week in front of the Senate. He said that yes, he had removed some mail sorting machines because they’re no longer needed — it turns out most people use the Internet for sending messages now — and he acknowledged the slowdown in deliveries in light of the coronavirus pandemic. But this has nothing to do with Trump or mail-in ballots, which will be counted so long as they’re postmarked by the appropriate deadline set in various states’ laws.

Democrats must have sensed that their post office hysteria was getting them nowhere. That’s why they’re now dreaming up crimes and name-dropping Roger Stone.
