The Daily Outrage: USDA give $30k to Maine alpaca growers for market study

WHO: U.S. Department of Agriculture

WHAT: Federal agriculture officials awarded a $30,000 grant to a group of Maine alpaca growers to study potential commercial products to be made from the animals’ fleece.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: Why should federal taxpayers fund the market research of a bunch of hobby farmers trying to recoup their investment in a semiexotic animal from another continent? Isn’t doing that research part of the entrepreneurial risk?

WHERE TO VENT: USDA Office of Public Affairs at 202-720-3865.
