WHAT: DHS officials announced that they will provide local jurisdictions with grants to install 200 license plate readers on police cars and at designated spots in the Washington area in an attempt to prevent an attack. The tag of every passing vehicle will then be run through federal criminal and terrorist databases.
WHY: The plan might have worked if DHS had kept quiet. Too late now. Terrorist wannabes who want to keep a low profile will all be renting.
