Gaddy’s goodness, thanks. The Bea Gaddy Thanksgiving feast fed 50,000-60,000 people Thursday even though there was a fire Tuesday at the Patterson Park Recreation Center. Instead of putting the 27-year good deed in jeopardy, it actually sparked a flood of donations and volunteers.

Quote of the day

“He tried to follow normal procedures at the school. This is a case of extreme bullying. He felt extremely threatened. He feared for his life.”

– Patrick Todd Williams, lawyer for Timothy Oxendine, the teen suspect charged with fatally stabbing a student who officials say bullied him

Edgewood evictions leave questions unanswered

Who: Edgewood Management

What: Edgewood is having residents evicted from the Townes at the Terraces row home for unpaid water bills.

Why it’s a bad idea: Edgewood decided a couple months ago to slam residents with four years worth of back water bills — amounting to $4,000 in some cases. Where are low income residents in city-owned housing going to get $4,000 in a couple short months? Wouldn’t it be better to spread them out over time? Besides, what happened to all those bills for so long? Something fishy is going on here. Edgewood and city officials need to fess up.
