Libertarians often see themselves as opponents of social conservatism. The presidential ticket of the Libertarian Party is running against social conservatives this year. But the highest-ranking elected Libertarian calls herself a “pro-lifer,” and other downballot Libertarians are running on a platform of protecting the life, liberty, and property for all — even Christian wedding photographers and babies in the womb.

Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke is the newest Libertarian election official, and you could fairly call her the highest-ranking elected Libertarian in the country. The LP has no congressmen, U.S. senators or statewide elected officials. Ebke is the only state legislator who affiliates with the party — though in Nebraska’s unicameral legislature, the legislators are technically non-partisan.
