This is how a Twitter hashtag dies.
The #YesAllWomen hashtag appeared over the weekend after Friday’s killing spree in Santa Barbara, Calif. Police blamed the killings on 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, a Santa Barbara City College student who had posted disturbing videos to YouTube, including one a day before the shooting that said he intended to kill women — a response to his romantic shortcomings.
Many of the tweets from feminists using the hashtag to express their feelings in the wake of the shooting angered conservatives, who noted an anti-male theme in the conversation.
Then Iran‘s theocratic supreme ruler, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, jumped in Monday.
1 of west’s problems which gnaws at foundations of western civilization is promoting sexual sins which ruins families. 02/20/96 #YesAllWomen

If the irony of the head of one of the world’s most misogynistic governments trolling a feminist hashtag to promote theocracy isn’t enough to kill it, I don’t know what is.
