Even as Nancy Pelosi blocked aid to the small businesses suffering under destructive shutdowns, she was treating herself to a blowout at an upscale salon in Pacific Heights, San Francisco — the most expensive neighborhood in the nation, in which Pelosi owns a $2.3 million estate.
Pelosi had repeatedly pushed localities to keep businesses closed so as to combat what she calls the “Trump virus.” Her salon treatment was still illegal under local bans on indoor salon activity.
Fox News received the tip when the livid owner of the salon, Erica Kious, saw the security footage of a blatantly unmasked Pelosi sauntering around the premises as a client of an independent stylist using her salon’s amenities not under the purview of the still-closed salon.
Pelosi’s official response to this has been less than reassuring.
“The Speaker always wears a mask and complies with local COVID requirements,” said Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill — because who are you going to believe, him or your lying eyes? “This business offered for the Speaker to come in on a Monday and told her they were allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business.”
Pelosi’s high-class pampering, even as she ignores the incineration of America’s cities and the economic devastation being caused by the lockdowns she advocates, is evocative of Marie Antoinette.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot committed the same offense, getting an April hair trim while salons were completely closed by the force of local law. Philadelphia’s mayor was just caught last week dining indoors, even as his city’s restaurants remain mostly closed for businesses. And Bill de Blasio engaged in a similar mask faux pas, having an impassioned meltdown about the Black Lives Matter movement without a mask just moments after lambasting police officers for failing to wear masks at the riots. His foe, gubernatorial counterpart, and killer of grandmas did the same.

Pelosi and her privileged ilk are happy to let your local businesses go bankrupt, burn, and then leave the owners stuck facilitating their children’s “distance learning” while barring them their local churches and bars. But the rules never apply to a sufficiently arrogant and tin-eared ruling class.
