Clinton brushes off her latest scandal

In a well-timed Monday news conference that took place while many journalists were watching for Pulitzers to be awarded, Hillary Clinton refused to address concerns over foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation while she was secretary of State. Clinton dismissed the issue as manufactured by Republicans just to hurt her politically.

“It’s worth noting that Republicans seem to only be talking about me,” Clinton told reporters in New Hampshire. “I don’t know what they’d talk about if I weren’t in the race.”

It was unclear what statements might have made Clinton think she was the only issue Republicans are talking about.

Clinton was responding to questions about “Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich,” a 186-page book to be released on May 5. The book was written by Peter Schweizer, president of the non-profit Government Accountability Institute.

The book says foreign entities that gave money to the Clinton Foundation, and to Bill Clinton in the form of large speaking fees, received favorable treatment from the State Department under Hillary Clinton, according to The New York Times.
