How many times do Democrats have to be caught violating health guidance on COVID-19 before we collectively decide never to take pandemic direction from them ever again?
On Wednesday, a newspaper in Tennessee published a photo of John Kerry, the Biden administration’s “climate envoy,” in which Kerry is seen seated in the cabin of an airplane with his face mask dangling off one ear, not at all covering his nose or mouth, as required in commercial air travel.
Caught looking dumb, Kerry defended his reckless behavior that put lives at risk as “only momentary.” The journalist who saw him certainly didn’t see it as “momentary.” Neil McCabe of the Tennessee Star said that Kerry boarded the jet, sat down in first class, and “settled into his book” just like that before takeoff.
If there were ever a time to wear a mask to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, it would be when crammed into an aluminum can with dozens of others aboard and seated mere inches apart.
Thanks for doing your part, John Kerry!
This wouldn’t be newsworthy had Democrats not spent the last year endlessly hectoring everyone about “the science” and about “protecting others” with masks and social distancing. Kerry even did it while defending his own hypocrisy on the issue. “I wear my mask because it saves lives and stops the spread,” he said. “It’s what the science tells us to do.”
Right.
Democrats consistently fail to do what they demand of everyone else. If they believe there isn’t a camera around, they visit friends and family and hair salons even as they tell others to forgo such pleasures. They are also the first to discard their masks and hop on a plane for some good, old-fashioned nonessential travel.
Even President Biden himself is doing it, embarking, along with his vice president and dozens of other White House officials, on a cross-country campaign to talk up the American Rescue Plan. Mind you, that bill is already signed into law. There’s nothing on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website about promotional political tours being exempted from the guidance not to travel.
In Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Biden was addressing a group of minority small-business owners with no mask covering his mouth and nose. People of color have been disproportionately affected by the virus. Why would Biden put them at further risk?
We’ve seen Democrats behaving this way all throughout the pandemic. They tell everyone to lock themselves up at home until they say it’s safe to come out, then they go get a haircut. That’s what Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot did.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio oversaw the closure of gyms. Then, he went to the gym.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi enjoyed a nice, private visit to the salon in San Francisco last year, even though salons had been forced to be closed. She wore no mask.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom banned indoor restaurant dining, then went and had a fun, maskless time with a group of friends and lobbyists indoors at a restaurant. Masks? Nah.
It’s sick, really.
