New ad hits Michigan Democrat over Keystone XL, ties to liberal billionaire

As the fall election season begins, an ad from the conservative group Crossroads GPS is hitting Rep. Gary Peters, D-Mich., for his failure to support the Keystone XL pipeline and for aligning himself with Tom Steyer, a billionaire California liberal who has driven much of Congress’ climate change agenda.

“We can’t leave Michigan’s future in Gary Peters’ hands,” the ad states.

Peters is slightly leading his Republican opponent, Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.
