Some awesome state legislative maps from Quorum

As you’ve probably read already, Republicans held on to their historic level of control in the states during the election just ended. They lost legislative chambers in a few states (such as New Mexico and Nevada) but they gained control in others (such as Iowa, Kentucky and Minnesota) and held on pretty much everywhere else.

Quorum has published national Red and Blue maps of all the state House and Senate districts in the 49 partisan state legislatures (Nebraska is officially non-partisan but Republican-controlled), pre- and post- 2016 election. I think these are awesome, and with Quorum’s kind permission wanted to share them.

First, state Senate, pre-election:

Then post-election:

Then state House, pre-election:

And post-election:

Many of the changes are not easy to see, because one party or another made gains in geographically small urban and suburban seats. I still find this fascinating because I’ve never seen maps like these that show the entire nation’s state legislative districts.
