WHO: Former Rep. Ray LaHood, R-IL
WHAT: During his long career in the U.S. House of Representatives, LaHood was a dedicated pork barrel champion. During 2008 alone, he got nearly $63 million, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, putting him in the top 10 percent of all House members.
WHY IT’S DIM: His party lost its congressional majority in great part because of pork barrel waste and corruption. LaHood has been named to be Barack Obama’s first transportation secretary, a federal department known for massive pork barrel abuses.
CURE: Apparently, there is no cure for Federal Spending Addiction (FSA).
