In an era when every month needs some kind of symbolic meaning, October has been designated Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month. It’s a month to honor the culture, contributions, and achievements of Americans of Italian ancestry.
Despite this, neither President Joe Biden nor anyone from his administration appears to have publicly acknowledged the occasion. So, what happened to diversity, equity, and inclusion?
COLUMBUS DAY, A CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS
Some may argue that such a snub is no big deal. These celebratory months aren’t really significant. However, it should be noted that in the past, including just a few weeks ago, Biden and the Democrats went to great lengths to celebrate Hispanic heritage month, which ended Oct. 15.
Biden and first lady Jill Biden hosted a reception at the White House to honor that occasion month. The president also gave a proclamation honoring people of Hispanic heritage on Oct. 14. He also tweeted about it, and so did the White House’s Twitter account. Additionally, Biden changed his Twitter header to a graphic celebrating Hispanic heritage month.
In the past, Biden and Democrats have made similar efforts to honor Pride Month, Black History Month, and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, to name a few. Yet, none of these were done to honor Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month.
As the Biden administration has shown, that thirst for inclusion doesn’t seem to apply to Italian Americans — or to any person of European descent, for that matter. The Left only wants diversity and inclusion regarding demographics whose emotions it thinks it can manipulate and exploit for political gain — although it seems to be a little bit less successful with this every year.
If the objective is multiculturalism and diversity, then why not have actual diversity, which doesn’t imply the neglect of European Americans? “Diversity” means everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity. It means treating all people equally, with respect and dignity. It’s not that hard to accomplish.
But actual racial equality wouldn’t help Biden or the Democrats attain and cement permanent political power. And that, not diversity, equity, equality, or inclusion, is their true goal.
