If your goal was to be resented in Mexico, you would probably say and do a lot of the things that President Trump has said and done since his presidential campaign began. From the disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants and a Mexican-American judge to this week’s public tussle with Mexico’s president, Trump has worked hard in this regard.
So this new cover of Vanity Fair’s Mexico edition is probably superfluous. But it shows that the commitment to make Trump’s name mud in Mexico is not limited to his own efforts.
Interestingly, this image is being published there now, but it is being recycled by Vanity Fair’s parent company, Conde Nast. It first appeared in April 2016 in GQ.
It’s fair to blame Mrs. Trump for letting herself be photographed like this in the first place — honestly, it’s grotesque — but this is a nice way for a hostile media outlet to twist the knife.
